Ted, An Anniversary, Faces - UPDATE January 21, 2018

Ted has me puzzled. I’m not sure what he is doing in this 9-minute video a Lily fan captured. Is he starting to work on his foot pads?Red squirrelRed squirrel Is he dealing with straw? It might be time to pay Ted a visit and see if he will give a clue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uElgXv7kFdQ

Seven years ago today, 4-year-old Lily gave birth to Faith and Jason at 1:51 PM and 3:02 PM while 1-year-old Hope suckled some of the time. No one had any idea how it would be to give birth with a yearling present. That was a time of learning. For science, the Den Cams gave a new perspective on black bear denning behavior (Rogers et al. (In preparation) ChickadeeChickadeeBehavior in Black Bear Dens: Den Selection, parturition, maternal care, and cub behavior). It was a beginning. The denning period remains the least observed portion of black bear life. I hope we can use Den Cams again.

Out the window, a red squirrel showed how delicately he eats a sunflower seed heart with tiny bites. A black-capped chickadee looked like it was posing for the camera, so I clicked it.

Thank you for all you do.
