Lucky, Construction, GiveMN – UPDATE November 14, 2012

Lucky behind wall of straw - Nov 14, 2012Lucky behind wall of straw - Nov 14, 2012  Honey and Ted emerged for light snacks of apples, lettuce, etc., but Lucky wasn’t interested. He might not have wanted to mess up his nicely arranged bedding or maybe his appetite is waning. From the looks of it, Lucky will be snug in his den.

Blankets to keep the dirt warm - Nov 14, 2012Blankets to keep the dirt warm - Nov 14, 2012At the Bear Center, it’s not only the bears that get blankets, so does the dirt. The black insulating blankets are to preserve soil warmth for curing the cement that will be coming soon. The picture shows the jagged rocks of Ely Greenstone lying beside the trenches for Lily Fans to grab come during the LilyPad Picnic in July.

Ely Greenstone - Nov 14, 2012Ely Greenstone - Nov 14, 2012We learned the news piece about the upcoming Den Cams on KBJR-TV Channel 6 in Duluth will air at 10 PM instead of 6.  They will also mention the GiveMN campaign for the Hope Learning Center addition.

 Tomorrow is the big day!

The 24-hour online Give to the Max Day is the fundraiser
that supports the NABC's Hope Learning Center.

Every dollar given on November 15th between 12:01am and 11:59pm
goes directly toward erasing the remaining $435,000
to build the new global educational facility.

Dear Bear Friend,

It's an enormous day of pride. Pride in making a difference for bears. And pride knowing the power of people like you. Over 145,000 Lily Fans continue to impact how the world thinks about black bears.

The BBC chose to broadcast its acclaimed Planet Earth Live series from Ely this year when they could have gone anywhere. National Geographic aired it too, resulting in millions of viewers in over 140 countries.

500 schools around the world already watch den cams in their classrooms and use the free online curriculum and resources.

People are eager to learn about the magnificent black bear.

The North American Bear Center is both honored and humbled by the worldwide attention it has received for its groundbreaking trust-based research. Education is the mission for peaceful coexistence.

Please click to contribute tomorrow, and then join us at Lily the Black Bear on Facebook to be a part of the ongoing fun and excitement! Like the past two years, a leaderboard will update our success!

Thank you each and everyone for making a difference for bears.
