Give MN, Honey et al.- UPDATE November 15, 2012

Foundation forms being built - Nov 15, 2012Building foundation forms - Nov 15, 2012At 6:50 PM, the leaderboard showed the North American Bear Center in 7th place with $32,376 from 574 unique donors! Amazing! Lily Fans remain committed! Thank you so much for all you are doing.

At the Bear Center, all was calm today. Lucky took a walk but was mostly snug in his den with his stolen bedding.

Honey had a fresh bale of straw given to her soon after Lucky stole straw from her den, but she didn’t care. This morning, she was in the wooden den by the viewing windows.  The machinery was quieter today as they staked the line for the formation forms. Ted, of course, is holding tight control over his chalet den and is not about to give it up. That leaves us with a question about where to put the Den Cam at the Bear Center. We assumed we would put it in Ted’s den because there is no way to get to the camera hole between the 2 bunker dens with each of them occupied. Now, it looks like Honey’s bunker she shared with Lucky last year might be empty. So we don’t know whether to feature Ted in the chalet, Honey in the window den, or Lucky in the small bunker. Part of the answer hinges on which bear gives the best view, which probably would be Ted.

We missed a couple pictures for the update on Lucky’s thievery and went back and posted them in that update today at http://tinyurl.com/Luckys-Antics.

The wild Den Cam piece ran last night at 10 PM on Channel 6 in Duluth along with a nice plug for the Bear Center and Give MN. Super.  The news piece is online at http://www.northlandsnewscenter.com/news/iron-range/Bear-Center-Prepares-for-Den-Cams-179414041.html.

Now begins the final 6-hour watch of the donation race on GiveMN, with Lily Fans pulling for the North American Bear Center. We didn’t enter the Wildlife Research Institute in Give MN this year because of the need for completing the new addition with the Hope Learning Center.

Thank you for all you are did today and are doing at this moment.
