Vermilion State Park

Juliet_in_clover_-_20110625Today was a day of mostly inside work and listening to a couple lectures about the plant communities and archeology of the new Vermilion State Park. Both Jo and Juliet spend a lot of time in this new yet-to-be-developed state park. It was interesting to see the plans for its development—roads, trails, campgrounds, etc. We wonder what effect this will have on the bears’ territories.

Jo was within the park boundaries today, but Juliet was miles away in a clearcut clover patch (picture).  Areas disturbed by logging are often seeded with clover, which is highly sought after by bears.

RC_tracks_6-23-11We saw 12-year-old RC today.  And that reminded us of the picture we got 2 days ago of her tracks on a road after the big rain.

Thank you for all you do.
