Jewel, Jack, Museum, Sunshine - UPDATE September 28, 2017
The more I think about Jewel, the less I worry. She was lethargic and not that hungry when we last saw her on August 30. I suspect she went to a den.
This seems early, but her Grandmother Shadow denned in the last week of August one year. It’s déjà vu on Jack. Last year, he left here on September 4 and showed up at the same feeder 9 miles away 9 days later on September 13. He remained for 9 days. This year, he left here on September 18 and showed up at a feeder 9 miles away 9 days later on the 27th. We’ll see how long he stays there.
The Bear Center was abuzz with members of the Minnesota Association of Museums who were delighted with the Bear Center and our hospitality as they conducted an all-day conference.
Out the window, sunshine brightened the eyes of birds and squirrels, and a migrating American black duck (Anas rubripes) joined the mallards (Anas platyrhynchos). No bears showed in daylight. A gust of wind created a shower of white pine needles and red maple leaves.
Thank you for all you do.
