Ursula, Pete, Northern Lights - UPDATE July 16, 2017

Sweet Ursula's appearance generated a call to us.  She was at a feeding station with her four cubs—even the shy one.  Ursula and her 4 cubsUrsula and her 4 cubsWe had to wait a bit for that one.  We don’t know the sexes yet for names.

Among the other bears was Pete with the hole in the top of his skull, an injury from mating season.  After what happened to Jason back in 2011, we’ve been worried about Pete.  Jason had a pin-hole opening in his skull, and he died of infection in 3 days.  We were happy to see that Pete’s quarter inch hole had sealed over.  He seems fine.

Tonight, a big Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) display is forecasted, according to the newspapers, and bear course participants want to see it, many of them for the first time.

Thank you for all you do.
