Redpolls aplenty
In this 3-minute video by Toni Embree, Ted seemed to be communicating with his actions. And maybe he did the same a few days ago, too, according to a caller today. She said she saw Ted find his bowl in his straw and put it by his entrance where people would put food in it. Now, today, he went to the fence where he sometimes gets food. Staff at the Bear Center are listening (or watching) and the talk is that food will be coming in a few days. At the fence, he showed the shaved spot on his left hind leg where I believe doctors inserted the IV for working on his teeth last fall. Walking slowly and unsteadily back, he seemed to be saying what I’m hearing from people about being tired of so much snow and that it can’t melt soon enough. https://www.facebook.com/toni.embree.54/posts/706897906992004
Out the window, the redpolls said they have been fooling me about heading north. They were back in numbers—over a hundred total and hungry on this day of fresh snow on branches where catkins were available and growing on the recent warm days. Today, it was back to winter.
