A Day at the Desk - UPDATE November 7, 2017
It was a day at the desk making good progress but distracted as birds and red squirrels watched what I was doing.
Red squirrelSometimes, when the light was right and they looked at me with their pretty faces and showed me the seed they had selected, I had to record it for posterity. It was cold (10°F and warming) and windy. I had to snap a shot of a disheveled blue jay with its feathers puffed up and being windblown. Even its crest was blowing sideways. A female pine grosbeak came and showed how different she looks from the males. A dark-eyed junco stood out sharply against the contours of snow. Then a common redpoll looked perfect as it came for sunflower seeds. Blue jays always look like they’re thinking, so I had to snap him when he looked in the window. I don’t know what he was thinking. He might have been wondering why I was paying attention to him and not typing. There is no way he could have been telling me to hurry with my work because it is Donna’s birthday and I have to go home early and do something special.
It was a good day.
