Ted and an Ear-tagged Mystery Bear - UPDATE August 23, 2017

Ted was not getting up for visitors late this morning.  Typically when I visit, he walks to the fence.  Today, he lay toward the back of his pen.  Bear 276 (photo by Don M.)Bear 276 (photo by Don M.)I went over to him, kneeled down, and he made his friendly grunts and moved enough to lick my face, but he didn’t get up.  We were worried, as usual when there is any hint that something might be wrong.  Honey left a mark in our psyche.  Then, later this afternoon, a Lily Fan captured a video of him up and active.  He was digging, not showing his best side, but looking just fine.

Elsewhere, an ear-tagged bear showed up at a feeding site—green tag #276.  We don’t know where he is from.  Could it be Canada? Or maybe elsewhere in Minnesota?  We’re hoping to hear.  It will be interesting to learn more about the geographic area the bears in this area represent.

Thank you for all you do.
