LilyPad Picnic, Bear Course, Donna Bear - UPDATE July 23, 2017

The LilyPad Picnic Brunch this morning was a joy.  Being with Lily Fans that the bears have brought together is satisfying in a unique way—a thought that several expressed in conversation.  I’m thankful the LilyPad Committee puts it together each year—a lot of work by dedicated people.DonnaDonna

From there it was on to the Black Bear Field Course that was filled with dedicated Lily Fans and the joy of hearing their knowledge of the bears we were seeing.

During lunch, a call came in that Donna and her three cubs were seen.  Everyone’s faces lit up.  They immediately knew who 17-year-old Donna was and her history.  They were gung-ho to jump in the van.  Donna and her cubs did not disappoint. The cubs were on the ground with her.  We snapped a picture of the lone female with no white on her chest and one of the males with his white V.  The landowner gave us a picture from before we got there of Donna lounging in the fork of a red pine where she had nursed the cubs.

Then it was back for more learning about bear personalities.  A good time.

Thank you for all you do.
