Ted - UPDATE February 22, 2017

Many eyes make good observations.

Ted in his denTed in his denYesterday, we saw Ted eating mouthfuls of straw. I’d never seen it. Lily Fans have. A mod saw it a number of times. I don’t understand why Ted would eat straw, but it’s a fact.

Yesterday, an alert Lily Fan saw an opportunity to capture close-up video of his foot pads. I still couldn’t be sure. I’ll have to see them up close one of these days.

Ted on April 4, 2014Ted on April 4, 2014Today, Ted defecated, and it looked like others on the snow. I wondered what it would look like and how many and jumped in the pickup. Then the power went out. Getting the camera up meant rebooting computers and that required help from a person who was very busy after electrical surges ruined equipment across Ely last night. He made us a priority and got the cameras going.

Lily Fans captured video of the visit (2 ½ minutes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhTt0Tdk8rs, but I stood right in front of Ted blocking the view as I tried to get a picture for the update tonight and for a big entryway carpet that will say: Welcome to the North American Bear Center and have a picture of Ted’s face on it. Ted is perfect to serve as our welcoming bear, considering how he welcomes everyone with his friendly grunts. He welcomed me today by licking my hand.

I’m hoping to get back again one of these days to photograph Lucky, Holly, and Tasha and check some foot pads, especially Ted’s.

The pictures are my favorite of Ted from today and a favorite from October 2014 which we posted last night as well. I’m wondering if one of them might be good for the carpet. I’ll keep trying, too.

Thank you for all you do.
