Date Mash and Sunflower Seed Hearts - UPDATE February 5, 2017

Outside the window, there was a run on date mash and sunflower seed hearts the last couple days. Ms Marten posed beside her block of date mash. A pair of gray jays made steady trips fillingPine martenPine marten

their beaks with date mash side by side or in turn. I don’t know what is on the beak of the incoming jay. The outgoing jay has its beak full. Gray jay males and females look the same. 

For the pine siskins, it was black oil sunflower seed hearts from dawn to dusk. The yellow male has an overall more yellow cast on his whole body. Two to three inches of snow fell with more to come.
