Ted, Tasha, Quill, Chickadees - UPDATE October 20, 2016
I heard that Ted and Tasha were feeding next to each other today but I didn't hear if there was a fence between them.
Red squirrel eating pine cone
Quill showed up HERE last evening about 8 PM and got on the scale for the first time ever--32 pounds. Today he came back at 4:27 PM. I wondered what made the ducks fly away. I checked. It was Quill here to eat sunflower seeds mixed with walnuts. The bowl of formula was empty. I'm becoming more confident he will do okay.
This morning a chickadee hovered close in front of me. I grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds with no shells. Two chickadees landed on my hand within seconds. The tame flock is back.
Out the window, a beaver swam by pulling a branch to its underwater winter food cache near its lodge. When we had a Beaver Cam some years ago, we watched beavers leave through their underwater entrance to bite off a branch and return to chew off the bark inside the lodge.
Cones are on the menu for the red squirrels. This one has a white pine cone. It is removing the outer parts to get the seeds.
Albert Einstein knew more than E=mc squared. He apparently knew about the people who helped Quill recently. He wrote: "Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty." He knew Lily Fans.
Thank you for all you do.
