Research Bears & Play at the NABC - UPDATE June 16, 2016
One of the WRI neighbors called at 9 PM last night to report that Shadow (29) was there at their feeding station. It will be interesting to see if she
Burtmates and produces her 13th litter this winter.
Lorie reported 11-year-old Burt (mother Shadow) put in his first appearance of the season this morning at 5AM. It’s great to see the big males returning. They checked the trail cam at the WRI and saw that Victor was there with Bow a few days ago.
Eva getting to know HollyAt the NABC Ted was first to the pond today. He had a great time splashing around on this warm 75°F day. Later he was caught on video by one of our interns marking an aspen tree that Lucky had previously marked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyofEOhERKs. Ted has been moved to the Haven Den for a few days while staff does some drainage work in his enclosure.
Tasha in her water tubHolly and Lucky put on a show for visitors, splashing in the pond. Lucky dislodged the dead tree in the pond again. Holly had her own agenda zipping around the pond, checking in with Lucky and bushwhacking the brush behind the rock den. All captured on video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfANZGQGUjA.
TashaTasha continues to make progress. She is eating well and seemed less nervous when Ted visited her today. She didn’t climb the fencing as he approached, she moved to the other pen and was much more calm. She seems to favor the smaller pen and enjoys playing in her water tub.
Thank you for supporting the NABC and the WRI.
