Volunteers, Honey - UPDATE April 14, 2016
It seems like someone should say thank you to the volunteers, but the thank you really comes
Honey on 8/12/14from the bears. As volunteers, we work together, forming friendships, and taking mutual pride in advancing the cause we all share. Whenever there is a need, there is always a volunteer eager to step up and take on a challenge. The 20,000 volunteer hours this past year involved many skill sets with each person contributing what he or she could do to benefit the bears and the Bear Center. Walking around the Bear Center yesterday, I couldn’t help reflecting on all that has been accomplished over the years. We are truly blessed to be part such an exceptional volunteer team consisting of people from around the world. Today, it was a volunteer who saw a need and painted our statue of a bear to be ready for opening tomorrow. That’s how it goes.
Today, Honey got on the scale for her first weight of the year, which we’ll announce tomorrow after the winner of the contest has been notified. Rumor has it that Honey ventured outside her pen. Lucky and Holly then checked it out, and Lucky took the liberty to get in Honey’s water tub after frolicking in and around the pond. Honey got ready for the Bear Center opening tomorrow by taking over the window den where she will be visible to visitors. Just doing her job.
