A Bird on the Hand - UPDATE October 15, 2015

Chickadee in handChickadee in handToday, we went out on the second floor deck and noticed expectant chickadees. We grabbed handfuls of sunflower seed hearts to see if these were chickadees who remembered us from last winter. They were. Several immediately landed. The recently arrived flock I mentioned was indeed what I hoped. It’s now bird-feeding rather than bear-feeding for the next half year or so.

At the Bear Center, another beautiful sign was added to the décor. Lucky and Holly are sleeping together in the bunker den. Holly showed us she could make a wild den if she wanted to but she’d rather sleep with Lucky.

In preparation for a great bunch of Lily Fan volunteers coming to work this weekend, we safely tied a rope to a dead tree we want to top. I liked the picture someone snapped. It shows I’m not all that old yet. 76 is only a number.

Thank you for all you do.
