Much Happening - UPDATE April 27, 2015
2-yr male visits the WRIAt the Bear Center, Lucky and Holly are playing without fear on Holly’s part. They are having fun, and they will give joy to anyone watching—as I felt watching the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGZbQavHo1c I remember when Ted and Lucky got to that stage. Here also, is a video of Lucky playing with his water tub. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbizH4foSQg
Deer greeting at the WRIDirector Scott and the staff turned on the waterfalls and dumped a pile of cedar chips for the bears to roll in, which they did.
Inside, they got the 10-foot aquarium in place with the help of R&R Transfer’s forklift. The reflection in it shows the rest of the room and shows we have a long way to go.
Scott working on waterfall pumpAt the WRI, deer were grazing the emerging grass and greeting each other as deer greeted me when I joined them in the woods back when I was walking with deer in the late 1970’s.
Finally, we have our first bear sighting, and he got on the scale—a 124.5-pound male, probably 2 years old. Very skittish but knows his way around here. We’re not sure who he is yet.
