GiveMN Day, Ted, et al., June bear - UPDATE November 13, 2014
Honey with new strawThank you once again! Thank you for enabling a step forward in bear education on this day of giving. Also, Thank you to the many Staff and Volunteers who worked to prepare for today, including thoughtfully sending lunch. As part of today, Scott Edgett and Judy Thon are going midnight to midnight to make this day fun and memorable. I’m watching the leaderboard at https://givemn.org/leaderboard (Medium tab) and seeing your many donations. To donate go to https://givemn.org/organization/Bears. Heading soon to the Bear Center with Donna to join Scott and Judy for fun and questions at 6:30 PM CST.
At 11:30 AM, Office Manager Heidi Schiltz and Team Forward Coordinator Moe McKibbage sang The Bear Song Moe wrote the words for. Here are the words:
CHORUS
Today I’m going to tell the world about bears
Going to take it one day at a time
I’ve made my resolution, we can coexist with bears
Today I’m going to tell the world about bears
1st VERSE
Going to say hello to my neighbor, talk bears and make em smile
Shake the hand of a stranger, talk bears with them for awhile
You and me we can do our part, we can all get along
Today I’m going to tell the world about bears
CHORUS
2nd VERSE
Going to teach my children, right from wrong
Going to tell em about the bears how we can all get along
Always gonna try and see myself through a black bears eyes
Today I’m going to tell the world about bears
CHORUS n end
Honey in her window denAbout that time, Honey was maybe 30 feet away from them arranging and snuggling into the straw the staff brought to her wooden window den. The pictures show her lying content on the straw and show what she can see through the window into the Bear Center.
Sue found another interesting video clip to share of June bear. It’s from May 13, 2007, and June is climbing skinny aspen trees and carrying branches down for a meal of female catkins. Lily, Cal, and Bud waited on the ground. Most people have never seen anything like this. It’s amazing that June can climb these skinny trees. http://youtu.be/_TBpd5-4iKc.
Leaving the WRI cabin to get Donna and join Scott and Judy at the Bear Center.
Thank you for today and for all you do.
