Rain and Meetings - UPDATE October 13, 2014

Habitat platformHabitat platform progressAll is well. As in: No news is good news. This rainy day was filled with indoor meetings and progress on the Northwoods Ecology Hall.

The squares on the platform will be used as the rough beginnings of the hills in the habitat Randy is making. We love the wood front on the kneewall. This habitat is where a lot of the taxidermy Lily Fans bought and donated will go. It will include trees, bushes, grass, a water feature, and a mural on the back wall.

In addition, I'm getting ready to visit my granddaughter on her 10th birthday. It is a trip I am looking forward to. We want to explore a woods by her house in Grand Rapids, Michigan to see what we can find and maybe photograph. She has been taking pictures lately, and we’ll find some nature subjects. We’ll turn over logs and rocks looking for salamanders and maybe garter snakes. We’ll see if I know the flowers me might see. We’ll feel the bark of the different trees and then maybe do it blind-folded to see if we can get them right by feel alone. We’ll look at leaf shapes. We’ll make the woods feel like home.

While I’m gone, Judy Thon will write updates about Ted, Lucky, Honey, and Holly, etc., from Friday, October 17 through Tuesday, October 21.

Thank you for all you do.
