Quiet Day - UPDATE December 13, 2013

Bear CountryBear, fisher and marten countryToday was an office day for everyone here—year-end stuff, writing, legal progress—a productive day.

Pine MartenPine MartenIn New Hampshire, Sue’s 1-year-younger brother passed unexpectedly as people were en route there for Christmas joy. Still in shock, they are arranging for things no one thought they would be dealing with. A rough time. Sue is in our thoughts and prayers. Not something great to talk about, but we wanted to share that with Lily Fans who care.

On a lighter note, last night was date night for Lynn and Donna, attending a lecture on fishers and pine martens, two of the animals that will have exhibits in the Northwoods Ecology Hall. The forest picture shows bear, fisher, and pine marten habitat at 3 PM today. The pine marten is one that appeared briefly and unexpectedly in front of Lynn’s camera some 22 years ago in November 1991 just 17.6 miles east of the forest picture.

Tomorrow, for the Lily Fan gathering in Sturbridge, Lynn will stand in for Sue doing questions and answers by Skype. He is looking forward to meeting, so to speak, Lily Fans and connecting names with faces. Lynn plans to shave and comb his hair.
