Did Honey Hear About Ted’s Straw? - UPDATE December 11, 2013
Honey takes a walk...Honey started this cold day (minus 21F this morning) with her head buried in her straw bed. At about 3:30 PM, with temperatures only a few degrees below zero Fahrenheit (about -4F), she began a walk but again got only a few feet before turning back to rake more straw into her den. Is she trying to keep up with the Teds of the world? Or did the cold and snow trigger thoughts of more bedding?
then turns around...Lucky is not showing his face. Ted seems happy with his new straw after arranging it how he wanted.
and rakes in more bedding! In this cold, we suspect the main sleeping position of bears throughout the woods is on their belly with their head tucked under their chest and their hind legs extended forward along their sides to confine as much of the moist, warm exhaled air as possible.
Sue is in New England spending time with family for a week or so.
Thank you for all you do.
