The Gathering, Snow, and Matching Grants – UPDATE November 10, 2013
Newbies at Hinckley - Nov 9, 2013 We’re still reeling from the great Gathering in Hinckley yesterday. Not only did we get to reconnect with some of the Lily Fans we’ve gotten to know before, but many new faces were there. We got to meet many of them and hear what they are doing. The word for last night was “uplifting,” as we said last night. The picture is of the “Newbies,” as Judy Thon and Sarah Zirbes happily called them. It was also a chance for the Newbies and the Oldies to meet Executive Director Nadine Long who has arrived since last year’s Gathering. In fact, Donna Rogers was talking with Nadine so much that she inadvertently got in the Newbie picture. Some of the Newbies are people that some of us know well through Facebook from the big voting days and various other projects. Virtual friendships turned into personal friendships, just like what happens at the Lilypad Picnic and various volunteer efforts.
ChickadeeWe heard that some people didn’t come because of the snow. It was slippery snow with temperatures up around freezing, but only 3 inches fell. With temperatures below freezing today, the surface was hard, and chickadees stayed right on top.
Only 4 days until GiveMN. Matching grants are coming in to encourage people to double their dollars. If anyone wants to offer a matching grant, email JM Barnish, Development Coordinator, at
Thank you for all you do.
