Aster at Den – UPDATE October 17, 2013
Ember and Cole - Oct 16 At 9:00 PM last night, instead of heading for the feeding station she has frequented nightly since September 26, Aster moved to the den she used last winter. Her GPS readings are within feet of her old den. Time will tell whether she actually remains there.
June’s cubs Ember and Cole continue to visit the feeding station—sharing the offerings with a variety of wildlife…deer, raccoons, and gray fox.
Aster with June's cubs - Oct 16We’re thankful for the detailed data we’re able to collect from the GPS units carried by these trusting bears. Being able to change batteries as needed allows us to obtain 100+ locations a day per bear. Most GPS studies limit either the number of readings collected per day or the number of days of data collection in order to conserve batteries.
Ember and ColeWe appreciate the show of support we have been receiving.
Thank you for all you do.
