Ursula At the end of this second day of the bear hunt; all radio-collared bears appear to be fine. While Mike and Lorie located Faith in a remote area to change her GPS batteries, Jim walked in on Ursula to change hers as well. It’s so much easier when we can catch up with these bears before their GPS batteries die completely.
FaithSue planned to connect with June today, but June and her cubs headed south as Sue began the hike in. When it became clear there would be no catching up to June, Sue settled for checking out the bed tree used by June and her cubs the last 2 nights. She found a massive white pine, a well-used bed, and multiple scat piles.
ShadowWe were happy to see two non-radio-collared clan mothers with cubs this evening—Braveheart and Shadow. Up a tree with her 2 cubs, Shadow’s gray face was looking down at us.
