Walls Going Up – UPDATE December 20, 2012
Wall section lifted off truck - Dec 20, 2012The Hope Learning Center is taking shape—literally. Today, we watched as 20-foot tall sections of walls were lifted and set into place by a crane that towered over the tallest white pine.
Section lowered - Dec 20, 2012Each section weighed about 19,000 pounds. On each of 12 flatbed trucks, up to 3 wall sections rested on 3-inch thick, 1-foot wide strips of Styrofoam without squashing them, giving us a new respect for Styrofoam. Tomorrow, 5 more trucks arrive and the last sections of wall go into place.
Section set into place - Dec 20, 2012After last night’s update, we heard concern that Honey could bring cubs into the world in captivity. Suggestions were that we castrate the males or isolate Honey during mating seasons. That is one of the reasons we want to complete the new isolation pen by mating season in mid-May.
Sue is back! That means catching up on office work people are waiting for. There is a lot in the works. More on that soon.
Thank you for all you do.
