Bears For Sure - UPDATE October 16, 2018

After sending in the update for last night. Two bears appeared in the dark, both male yearlings (no picture). Tonight they are back.Hairy woodpeckerHairy woodpecker

Last night, I checked three other feeding stations. One reported none, and two reported one. All different bears, so at least four bears are still up and eating.

One of the feeding stations reported 7 foxes, probably mostly gray foxes. Another reported two wolves. That feeding station earlier told me of a fox and bear peacefully sharing food. Exciting country.

Flying squirrelFlying squirrelOut the window, 12 blue jays were on the railing at once—the most I can remember. A brave male hairy woodpecker stood his ground. If a blue jay got too close he pounced forward like a bear, and the blue jay found a different spot. Blue jays probably know that woodpeckers are good at pecking.

Within seconds of putting out seed, a northern flying squirrel sprinted into view with its big dark eyes.

Thank you for all you do.
