What happened to Hope 15 years ago still lingers in the hearts and minds of many. I believe the following words and pictures that Michele Chartier posted online today echo the feelings of so many that it had to be the core of this update 15 years after the devastating death of Hope whose short life had brought so many together for bears.

“The little bear that started a rich educational observational journey for so many. I'll never forget being glued to my computer watching her den, when she was lost, celebrating when she was found and reunited with her mom, Lily, and crying for days when she was killed by a ruthless hunter. How we became one to protect these beautiful creatures made us all better human beings. I will always be grateful. Her legacy is in the education that continues... my world and my life are so much better for loving bears...Forever loved ❤️ Forever remembered ❤️ Forever HOPE 🐻”
On a related note, Lily is still doing fine at 18, having given birth to 25 cubs that include three from this year.
