My First Sighting of 2026 - UPDATE April 11, 2026

Mystery Male

The high point of this day was seeing my first bear of the year. This male that I’m guessing to be 5-7 years old has no white on his chest but has a thin scar below his right eye that should be enough to identify him. He knows us. He remained calm and accepting when I stepped out by him, but the sound of a vehicle starting in the parking lot put him on the run—twice. His name hasn’t come to me yet, but it felt good to see a bear that remembered me, even if I couldn’t remember HIS name.

Thank you for all you do!
