Action Everywhere and a Mystery Bear - UPDATE May 6, 2020

At the Bear Center, there is action everywhere as HappyCub described: “Lots of Action this evening - Lucky on the Woodchucck at NABCWoodchucck at NABCscale and went for another swim, Holly in the cub tree, and Chucky gathering straw for a nest? Tune In!! :) I threw in a pic of our chucky's eye for Dr. Rogers lol. Just threw this in - Woodchuck Eye - for Dr. Rogers. Not the best but Game On! Lol” On Bear Chat Picture Place

She also sent a great picture of the woodchuck there with a big mouthful of grass for bedding—another indication that Chucky is a female and could have babies running about among the bears in a month or two.

Mystery Bear

At the WRI, a mystery bear that people are scrambling to identify. Yesterday afternoon, it came and went. Across the beaver dam on the other side of the outlet, it let us get a picture as it stood on a rock and back-rubbed a power pole, which is a favorite place to scent-mark. Tonight at about 8 PM, he(?) was back, frantically hungry, and got on the scale—120 pounds. Guessing a 2-year-old. We’re looking for reference pictures to identify him and know his sex and age.

Thank you for all you do.
