Bears and More Bears - UPDATE August 14, 2017

Black Bear Field Course participant Catherine Davison is quite a photographer, Jenny's cub by DavisonJenny's cub by Davisonand she shared some of her pictures from the last two days.  Among them are 10-year-old Lily, 17-year-old Donna and part of her litter resting in the forest, ~20-year-old One-eyed Jack close-up, and a sweet picture of one of Jenny’s cubs.  Jenny is a non-clan bear who had cubs at 5 and now at 7.  Jenny had an injured paw at the age of 2 that slowed her growth and maturation.

Lily by Davison 8/13/17Lily by Davison 8/13/17To our surprise, 14-year-old Colleen paid a visit and posed for a portrait showing the distinctive notch in her right ear.

We heard just now that Annie (the mother of Jenny) still has all five of her cubs.  We’re still looking to get the iconic picture of her with them.

It was a wonderful couple days, with another couple days to go in this course.

Then a Pinterest collection of bear pictures came to my attention.  It includes dozens of pictures of our favorite bears at https://www.pinterest.com/pin/466263367661906316/?lp=true.

Looking forward to tomorrow and more great discussions about black bears and their ways.

Thank you for all you do.
