Bears, Beauty, and Birds - UPDATE July 31, 2017
It was a day of bears at dawn, dusk, and in between for the Black Bear Field Course participants. We missed a chance to see Lily.
LoonBy the time we got there, Sophie had come in and scared Lily and her cubs away. It was great to see sweet Sophie, though. Jack was a favorite, of course.
At the Bear Center, Holly and Tasha initiated play back and forth in the pond.
LoonOn the midday pontoon ride, we all appreciated the beauty of white water lilies, mallard males that are getting their green heads back, ducklings who can now fly, and pair after pair of loons (although no babies).

It was a great day of excitement with bears and a stimulating discussion of how hard it is to rid oneself of fear of bears. Participants told of the warnings their families and friends gave them about coming to see bears. One participant worried that a cut she got on her hand before coming would smell of blood and jeopardize her safety. Meanwhile, the bears dispelled myth after myth and

Thank you for all you do.
