Leopard Frog, Mink, and More - UPDATE June 2, 2017
It’s been years since I heard what used to be a common call here—the leopard frog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDuvK0u8XyY or for more examples: http://bit.ly/2rPesRW.

Today, the outdoor mike picked it up and it came through to the speaker on my desk. That made me take a short break to go out with my camera and listen. The microphone is far more sensitive than human ears, and I couldn’t hear it without the microphone. I walked the 80 feet down to the beaver dam to listen. Nothing. The wind was so calm that trees reflected in the water were nearly as sharp as the real thing. I saw a movement on the beaver dam and snapped a picture to see if the camera might pick up something. It was the mink looking at me. You might make him out dead center in the picture. I haven’t seen him for over a month, maybe two. Yet, he is this close by. He didn’t mind me standing 50 feet away clicking the camera zoomed in. I couldn’t see why he was digging in the mud at the top of the dam. That was my big adventure for the day.
MinkAnother little thing of interest was the tamest gull’s reaction to what I was wearing when I brought her bologna out the door. I wore my red coat instead of the usual black long-sleeved shirt. Twice she flew away when I approached. She landed again. I took off the red jacket and she was fine.

The team is putting together information for the participants. I got an email from Lori Lindsay, the Bear Study Course Coordinator, saying that she is at
Meanwhile, the bear food fundraiser team is holding the Abearican Idol Contest as is described in the announcement.
Thank you for all you do.
