Jim Stroner was up today snapping hundreds of pictures of Ted, Lucky, and Holly for a possible calendar. He plans to return and will get some photos of Tasha when he does.

Word came that a big male was following 8-year-old Summer and hanging out patiently while she ate. Mating season is on. The word is that Jewel and Fern have both split from their yearlings. We’ll likely hear of them being followed by males, too.

One of the birds coming north now on the southerly winds that started yesterday is this male chestnut-sided warbler that appeared today. It’s one of the warblers that commonly nests here.

The Black Bear Field Courses have four places left: 1 in the July 16-19 course, 2 in the August 6-9 course, and 1 in the August 20-23 course.
