Bear Sightings Ramping Up, Bear Food Needed - UPDATE May 6, 2017
At the Wildlife Research Institute and Eagles Nest Community, bear sightings are increasing as Mystery bearwould be expected as more and more bears begin to roam. Fern, Sophie, RC, Jewel, Donna and their 14 yearlings plus Herbie, Eli, and a couple of 2-year-old females are starting the season. Mothers with cubs will show up toward the end of this month. Still looking for Quill with his formula out waiting.
At the Bear Center, Sharon is buying food for Ted, Lucky, Holly, and Tasha at the local supermarket https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYfruJV9zqg. Thankfully, Lily Fan volunteers are holding a fundraiser through May 19 to buy a $10 meal for a bear. To donate, go to https://www.bear.org/website/how-to-help/bear-food/donate-now.html. Thank you for your generosity to date.
DeerBoth deer and bears are skinny this time of year. Bears’ metabolisms are up to speed now, and they are hungry. The deer looks skinny, but bears look fat with all their fur. The picture is of one of the two mystery 2-3-year-olds we’ll hopefully identify soon.
Thank you for all you do.
