Good End of Day - UPDATE April 28, 2017

This windy, chilly day ended dead calm with the temperature above freezing. Out the window, a beaver cut a V of ripples on the mirror-smooth lake. A gray fox came almost to the window. 20170428 Gray foxGray foxOur Gull, alone, stayed well after sunset (till 8:43 PM), making me get up to toss pieces of bologna to her. Spring peepers have not started up again after this cold spell. Tomorrow will be a nice day.

A highlight was meeting Lily Fans at the Bear Center, seeing a new Bear Educator volunteer here for the training, and seeing experienced Bear Educator volunteers back from last year working hard to give the bears good care and give the visitors the best experience possible. Later, back at the WRI, I talked to four volunteers on the phone who are making so much good happen in various ways, and I got an email from a veteran volunteer/friend. I can’t imagine how bad it would be without so many dedicated volunteers working in so many ways to help educate about the bears. All I can say is thank you and keep working toward the same goal.

Thank you for all you do.

Lynn Rogers, Biologist, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center
