Tasha, Trip, a Tidbit, and Tired - UPDATE April 21, 2017
A Lily Fan used the amazing zoom power of the pond cam to show what Tasha does in her white pine in this 5:31-minute video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYNPrBP3m_0Sandhill cranes
On the trip a couple days ago, we had moments of excitement made possible by Donna’s ability to spot wildlife. This pair of sandhill cranes blending in beside the road and a common merganser close enough to the road for a picture are examples. The merganser showed how it runs on the water to become airborne. Common grackles look plain and drab much of the time, but a ray of sun on their iridescent feathers can turn them into one of the northland’s most beautiful birds.
Common merganserA Lily Fan found this tidbit that I have never seen before and suggested I include it in an update. It was published in England in October 2009 in the http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/6399850/The-bears-trust-me-Lynn-Rogers-befriends-black-bears-in-Minnesota.html
Common grackleThe update is early because I feel tired after the trip and a night of too little sleep and I’m going home to just rest. Looking forward to the Hinckley Gathering tomorrow from noon to 5 PM.
Thank you for all you do.
