Lucky and Holly - UPDATE March 6, 2017

That was so nice to see Lucky and Holly enjoying each other in the video yesterday. The gentle play, snuggling, closeness, is such a change from the separation we’ve seen until recently. BillboardBillboardWe can’t explain it. We can only learn. Here is more video from yesterday. It overlaps yesterdays and is about 6 minutes long. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sul5o6afKiQ

The smears on the lens are from Holly licking it, of course. Today, Scott went out to dismantle the camera’s holding box and wipe the lens only to have Holly lick it again. Scott says he’ll give it another try soon. He didn’t see any tracks of Holly and Lucky being outside their den. As snuggly as it is inside, they apparently want to stay right where they are.

On their way up here yesterday, Sarah Zirbes and her husband Dan took a picture of the Bear Center’s first billboard. They said it is on Highway 35 North about 200 yards south of the Beroun exit. That puts it about 8 miles south of Hinckley and about 60 miles north of the Minneapolis/St Paul. I think it looks great. It is simple, eye-catching, and tells the story.

Lily Fans are helping by thinking of more merchandise—a Bear Center magnet to put on vehicles, wooden Bear Center magnets for people who collect them for their refrigerators, etc., a wooden Christmas tree ornament, a children’s pop up play tent that is bear themed, a special NABC limited edition black bear by Steiff, a black bear bottle (cap) opener, and a poster of Honey. Keep the ideas coming.

Thank you for all you do.

Lynn Rogers, Biologist, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center
