I arrived at 4 AM to an empty bowl. Good. Quill had been here. About 7 AM, it was empty again. I missed him.

The rest of this drizzly desk day I got exercise frequently going downstairs to the living room to check Quill's bowl and see if he was on the scale. Nothing. In the evening, 
Goldfinch maleI checked the card in the trail cam to see what time he'd come overnight. Somebody (me, I'm afraid) didn't put the card in right. No pictures. I did it better this time. We'll see what happens tonight.
Out the window. A male goldfinch in his winter coat--the first one I've seen since they had their bright summer coats.
