Tasha, Orphan - UPDATE October 15, 2016
Tasha might be remodeling Holly's old den to her liking. From the amount of time she spends near and sometimes in it, there is a good chance this is the one she will choose for the winter. Holly's version of the denHolly dug and used it two winters ago. This year, Holly enlarged it and then doubled up with Lucky again. Tasha seems to like the den and is chewing logs into chips for bedding like Lily did in her brush pile den where she gave birth to Eli and Ellie in 2013.
Tasha's renovation of the denThe orphaned cub is doing better than I expected. I'll call him a male until I have to eat those words as I will on other topics here. I was so sure I saw the object in the orphan's left ear as a metal plate. Today, it's a quill. How can something change like that overnight? On the quills, he is doing better than I thought.
From the outsideYesterday, he ate a big dog bowl full of formula and did well. Today, I watched through the window with binoculars as he did the same again with no show of difficulty and discomfort. We're feeding him formula, apple sauce, black oil sunflower seeds, and walnut pieces. We're getting lots of good suggestions from Lily Fans and are looking into ways to help him.
Thank you for all you do.
