Tasha, Lily Fans - UPDATE July 8, 2016

TashaTashaThe link to today’s Ely Echo Newspaper story about Tasha’s arrival is at http://www.elyecho.com/articles/2016/07/08/tasha-settles-bear-center.

The 1-minute video of her in her tipsy tub is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0QG9dZKwIc.  The photo shows her in the tub with her blankie and Ducky. It was the end of the blanket, though. The staff rescued it because it was very soiled and torn up.

Wood peeweeWood peeweeLast evening as I was starting home, I saw how Loppy’s attitude might get him beat up and get his ears bitten off in addition to whatever happens in his mating season battles. Loppy was peacefully eating. No other bears were near him. Then I saw why. Big V-Dot appeared for the first time this year. He is twice the size of Loppy, and Loppy immediately left his food to walk purposefully toward V-Dot, who turned to avoid Loppy. Loppy broke into a run and chased V-Dot off. Then I noticed three other bears that had been holding back—likely because of Loppy. He’s fine with people—a little shy.

Today, after the board meeting at the Bear Center, I ran into some Lily Fan families that made my day. I had never met them before, but it’s like we knew each other.

Thank you for all you do.
