Holly, Lucky, Legislation, Redpolls, and Thank You! - UPDATE March 20, 2016

Common redpoll in snowCommon redpoll in snowMidday today, Holly and Lucky moved their fun outdoors as a Lily Fan captured in this 11½-minute action video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPAoT9jwTis. I look forward to learning the weights and weight-loss of these active bears before they start gaining weight again.

Common redpoll spreads wingsCommon redpoll spreads wingsThe DNR introduced legislation to make it illegal to feed a bear by hand or other physical contact. The target of this is obvious, and I have confidence that key legislators will see through this bill and remove it.

Out the window, it was blue sky and sunshine, making the redpolls look beautiful on this first day of spring. Common redpoll and boughsCommon redpoll and boughsI couldn’t help snapping a couple shots through the window to share. Three males (pink breasts) posed. One showed the spread of his wings that will carry him back to the Arctic. Another had his feathers all puffed up in the snow, while a third was framed by balsam fir boughs.

A big thank you to all who participated in the Makeover Fundraiser. Way to go Lily Fans and a big thank you also to all who put the items together and organized it. I know Scott will use the money wisely and frugally. So much is happening there.

Thank you for all you do.
