Snow! - UPDATE March 16, 2016

Juliets Cubs on 3-19-12Juliets Cubs on 3-19-12Snow again, and some redpolls are back. The snow reminded me of Juliet nursing her cubs in the snow on April 16, 2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lsPvzVFsqM.  The family, including Sybil, Sophie, and Sam, was flooded out of their den by meltwater during an unusually warm period in March similar to what we had the past few days this year. I remember Sophie and Sybil sleeping outside the den so soundly (picture) that I could roll them over to see what sex they were without them waking up. I wonder how vulnerable cubs are to predation when they are flooded out before they can fully walk. It’s likely that Sophie and Sybil have cubs themselves this year, and it’s possible they got flooded out with the recent warm period just like they did as cubs.
