Warmth, Honey, Birds, and the Makeover - UPDATE March 11, 2016

HoneyHoneyMelting is quickening with a warm 54°F breeze and sun, and Honey couldn’t resist going for a walk as was captured by a Lily Fan in this 7:29 video. Honey walked down to her old window den and possibly drank from the creek beside it. She found her old bowl and checked it out. Tracks show that she stopped by her old rock den where she spent a winter with Lucky in the winter of 2008-9. That was Judy McClure trying to get her picture at the end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSNNo8CyV0s&.

Out the window at the WRI, the sharp-shinned hawk is more active every day, sitting just 8 feet outside the window to make its passes at the birds. Although the redpolls came from an arctic area where there are no sharp-shinned hawks, they still recognized it and stayed away from it no matter how quietly the hawk sat there. I don’t know if it is the hawk or the warm weather, but the redpolls have all but disappeared (only 2 seen today). The hawk is now making passes at chickadees, and it keeps its eye open better now. I don’t know that it has caught anything.

Thank you for all you do.
