Bear Center - UPDATE July 21, 2015
Loon feeding chickVideos captured by Lily Fans show the Bear Center bears in action. The first confirms how lucky we were to get Lucky. Visitors named him Lucky because he was lucky to be alive and lucky to end up in one of the most natural forested bear enclosures in the world. Soon we realized that we and visitors were the lucky ones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5iOEnWiGlE
Loon food - what is it?Ted’s name is appropriate for him. He is such a Teddy Bear in that he shows his love of people with every grunt. His high pitched grunts mean he wants friendly contact. When I heard his words (grunts) the first time I met him, I knew he was sincere and wouldn’t hurt me, and I was right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qm_KHjCYCjs
A Lily Fan also captured a picture of the ribbon cutting. Standing by the ribbon are (left to right) Judy Thon representing volunteers; Lori Shultze, President of the Board of the Ely Chamber of Commerce;

Scott Edgett was the Master of Ceremony.
Porcupine looking into deep rock denOn the lake, the loon chicks are growing. We’re not sure what the parent is feeding this chick. We wish the picture were a little more clear. The second picture shows more of the color. If anyone knows what this is, we’d love to know at
At Lily’s Deep Rock Den, the trail cam caught a picture of a porcupine looking down into it. We don’t have many porcupines in this area.
Thank you for all you do.
