The Story of Lily and Hope - UPDATE February 17, 2015
Juliet - February 17, 2014In this 4½-minute highlight video, a blowing overnight snowstorm delivered snow to Juliet’s den, which she began eating at 9:05 AM. When she rose, we see that part of her back and sides are covered with snow.
In the afternoon, with the temperature about 18°F, we get some cub views. At 3:52 PM, Juliet is busy licking up snow right in front of the camera for about as good a view as we’ve seen. Meanwhile, the cubs continue nursing contentedly without a squawk—even when she turned 150 degrees, shook, and began gnawing at a stick.
What a difference a few degrees makes. We can check the accuracy of that supposition (that it’s temperature) in a couple days when the temperatures get up into the 40’s.

Just a heads up that Olatz is making her totally unaffordable 5 books ($235 each) available for a very affordable price through the Bear Center. The total for the 5 books in digital format will be less than $20, including shipping. These are the books that captured the whole story of Lily and Hope in words along with over a thousand photos. The story changes everyone’s view of bears. She and we want this amazing story to get out and begin changing attitudes about bears. Olatz is subsidizing the price to make them affordable. She is making arrangements through the Bear Center. We are thankful to Olatz, a Lily Fan, for her dedication to her, your, and our educational mission.
With so many Lily Fans working toward our common goal, amazing things are happening. We look forward to seeing Lily and her (likely) new litter in spring.
Thank you for all you do.
