GiveMN, Bear Videos, and Sue - UPDATE November 8, 2014
GiveMN - November 13Staff and volunteers are preparing for the big Give to the Max Day on November 13. We learned that the Golden Ticket that is randomly selected each hour will be doubled to $2,000 this year and the Super-Sized Golden Ticket randomly selected at the end of the day has been doubled to $20,000. Last year, we won two Golden Tickets thanks to the number of supporters donating throughout the day, especially in the wee hours when fewer people are donating to the other causes, making it more likely that donations from hardy Lily Fans will be randomly selected. So, if you can, divide large donations into many smaller ones which will increase the chances of our being drawn for Golden Tickets.
Sue Mansfield in her officeAt the same time, Lynn, Judy, Scott, Lily Fan volunteers, and hired professionals are creating exhibits for the May 1, 2015, opening of the Northwoods Ecology Hall, which is where the Give to the Max Day donations will be used.
Sue Mansfield now has the biggest private office in the Bear Center so she can catalogue the hundreds of hours of video and can work with others using our huge data set (GPS, Telemetry, and Observations) on bear travels and family breakup, among other topics. Yesterday, the staff prepared the office for her. All were present to give her a surprise welcome (hugs and handshakes) when she arrived to find the office neat and in order. As Sue comes across outstanding scenes, we’ll put those in updates that Sue may write.
Elsewhere, we are creating highlight videos of Juliet and her cubs in their den from last winter to share with you this winter.
Thank you for all you do.
