Moving Forward - UPDATE October 23, 2014
Lynn and Veronica walking - 10/19/14The pictures of Veronica and Mill Creek are for last night’s update.
Lynn and Veronica - 10/19/14The big news today is that one of the top habitat creators in the country is working with us to make the taxidermy habitat in the Northwoods Ecology Hall better than any of us dreamed. True, we haven’t seen it yet, but he met with us for nearly 3 hours today and was full of ideas and how to carry them out. He is one of the main taxidermists creating habitats for Cabella’s, Field and Stream Stores, and others across the country. He just happens to live in Ely and is putting us in his schedule. It will also cost more than we dreamed, but from what he says and has shown us in habitats he’s made, it will be worth it.
Veronica and Bitty - 10/17/14On the down side, Ted has an abscess and is on antibiotics. Yesterday, the staff noticed his swollen muzzle. Today the vet came over and started him on the medicine. Bears in the wild also have problems and can die. Ted is getting help. We want him to live a long life. We can watch his progress together on his webcam.
Mill Creek - 10/20/14Holly has mites in her ears and is also getting help. We’re thankful that the alert staff spots these problems and quickly gets help.
