A Good Quiet Day - UPDATE September 14, 2014
Least ChipmunkNo bear hunting activity detected around here.
Excitement on this quiet day was seeing a Least Chipmunk come down a white pine demonstrating how it can flatten its hindquarters and extend its legs back to come down head first, unlike what bears can do.
Eagle vs RavMore excitement was a young (first year) Bald Eagle trying to visit the Bear Center but being tormented by a Raven.
A couple days ago, we saw Trumpeter Swans on Robinson Lake for the first time since the pair lost their 5 signets in late June. They were over 0.4 mile away but immediately obvious on the dark water.
Trumpeter Swans - 9-12-The many volunteers that help spread the word, moderate the social media, and do so much to make everything work deserve constant thanks, which is partly what we mean by our closing sentence each evening, but we wanted to give special mention to our Bear Center intern Lizzy Gelderman and volunteer Dee Molean who contributed so many hundred hours caring for the bears and giving support to the overall operation of the Bear Center this past summer
Thank you for all you do
