BBC2 - "A Bear with a Bounty"Likes on the Facebook page “Lily The Black Bear” went up several thousand after BBC2 aired the 1-hour documentary “A Bear with a Bounty.”
Daisy, daughter of BowThe British apparently sided with the bears despite hearing statements in the documentary from the same naysayers the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources used as witnesses in the recent hearing. Like the British, neighbors of those witnesses also sided with the bears.
The documentary focused on hunters working to rid the forest of radio-collared bears that had become Facebook celebrities through the Den Cams.
A sad documentary for us, the documentary showed what happened after the DNR used the media to let hunters know they were against bears becoming celebrities and preferred to have the radio-collars be removed. Hunters then shot 30% of the radio-collared bears instead of the usual 5%. This summer we removed the remaining radio-collars to prevent the bears from being targeted.
Daisy - 3 year old daughter of Bow We got our first look this year at 3-year-old Daisy, daughter of Bow (granddaughter of RC and great-granddaughter of Shadow). We immediately knew her by her distinctive chest marking, and she knew us. It’s likely she will have cubs this winter.
