Big Wind – UPDATE April 28, 2014
Mischievous cub... The wind was so strong that the top of a big white pine blew down and nearly hit the Wildlife Research Institute cabin. Was the wind the reason Juliet and cubs remained in their den yet another day? Or was it coincidence.
Preparing to lick the lens...Throughout the wind today, Aster and Lily didn’t move much. In the last hour, with the wind much calmer, Lily and cubs moved a half-mile.
Success…a goobered lens!Weather Underground for Ely, MN, said the wind was gusting to 33 MPH when we looked at the computer. By that time, though, the wind had slowed. We haven’t seen a wind like that in a long time and neither has Juliet. Rain and snow are forecast for the next 4 days. Will that make a difference? Will Juliet remain at her den nearly a month longer than bears in past years (except Lily's 225 days last year).
Thank you for all you do.
